A Michigan man who threw his weight around online lost more than 400 pounds – with help from bodybuilders he used to troll.
Jesse Shand, 28, said he would target fitness buffs online from the safety of his mother’s home to feel better about his massive weight gain, which reached 700 pounds.
After getting Shand to share a picture of himself, the iron pumpers shared tips on shedding his weight.
“I said I was too fat to exercise but they said I could just sit in my chair and flop around to lose weight,” Shand told Barcroft Media. “So that’s what I did – it was my first ever workout and by the time I was done I was tired and sweaty but it worked.”
Shand, who wants to drop about 15 more pounds, is trying to raise funds for the $20,000 surgery to remove his flabby skin.
He started to gain weight as a recluse who sat in front of the computer all day after his dad was murdered when he was a child.
Shand targeted people on the Internet to “get a laugh and feel better about my situation.”
“My life started to turn around after trolling the bodybuilders,” he added. “I had hundreds of excuses but they won’t accept any of them.”
He now hits the gym five days a week and has completely cut out all fast food.
And his biggest supporter is his mom, who used to worry she would come home and find him dead on the couch.
“I thought he would die very young. I didn’t think he had much longer when he started trying to lose weight,” said Coreen Rosenogle, 56. “Now I feel absolutely fantastic and I don’t worry anymore.”
